An alternative to traditional outdoor electronic shelters
Purcell Systems has been designing and developing outdoor electronics enclosures for over a decade, with a focus on delivering initial CAPex and long term OPex savings to customers in a variety of industries, including the government and military markets.
While traditionally, outdoor shelters have been used house sensitive localized electronics, for use in municipal, state and military localized applications, Purcell Systems' quality outdoor cabinets and enclosures provide a cost efficient, highly reliable and modular alternative that brings compelling benefits.

When comparing Total Cost of Ownership, Purcell Systems outdoor cabinets provide these cost benefits over any pre-fabricated shelter or building:
■ Lower initial-cost
■ Lower expansion cost
■ Significantly lower ongoing operating expense
■ Higher electronics reliability through optimized thermal management
In addition, Purcell Systems outdoor enclosures provide other significant benefits, including:
■ Pay as you grow flexibility
Purcell Systems enclosures allow for pay as you grow technology upgrades and capacity expansion when needed and result in significant initial CapEx savings versus a shelter, where you pay for future-use space up front. While the initial CapEx savings of a Purcell Systems outdoor enclosure is significant, an even larger savings is realized by lower OpEx since only the space necessary for the initial deployment is being thermally managed as compared to a large shelter.
■ Smaller footprint and lower profile
Purcell Systems outdoor enclosures' smaller footprint allows them to be deployed in locations that do not have sufficient space to support a shelter, and in locations that have weight or access restrictions such as rooftops. The enclosures' significantly smaller profile also permits them to be deployed in locations that provide lower visibility than shelters. Even when deployed in plain view, Purcell Systems outdoor enclosures offer excellent protection against theft, vandalism and any environmental condition.
■ Wide Range of Thermal management options
Purcell Systems works with our customers to define the thermal management solution that exactly match the deployed equipment operating temperature requirements for the specific outdoor environment that the enclosure will be deployed in. In many instances, Purcell Systems configures outdoor enclosures with our advanced thermal options such as Zone Cooling, that separate the enclosure into distinct thermal management zones, adapting different thermal management technologies that specifically match the equipment contained in each zone. This results in the most reliable thermal management solution optimized to the exact needs of the equipment, with the significantly reduced OpEx over the life of the deployment versus shelters. Higher reliability and lower rate of failure for the electronics, is also realized.
While the initial CapEx savings of a Purcell Systems outdoor enclosure is significant, an even larger savings is realized by lower OpEx since only the space necessary for the initial deployment is being thermally managed as compared to a large shelter.
■ Faster Deployment and Installation
Purcell Systems outdoor enclosures may be quicker to deploy to the market, as permitting and zoning restrictions often do not apply or are easier to secure than for shelters/buildings.
